Animal Bio
Joey is a fluffy nugget of a sheltie who lives with his family in Richmond, B.C. Every morning, he meditates with his dad, and then he loves to spend his days going on walks, tossing his toys into the air, and herding the other dogs at our local Bark Park. Joey is almost 7 years old, but he still acts like a puppy. He is definitely an adventure dog, and one of his favourite vacations is to go camping on the Sunshine Coast. (That's where the picture was taken!).

As a Shetland sheepdog, Joey is very smart and knows lots of tricks, including roll over, beg, crawl, play dead, and even tippy-toe. However, this intelligence also makes him sneaky, and he has been known to secretly bury treats in the backyard when he thinks no one is watching. He even hides the evidence by wiping his nose on the grass to get rid of the dirt!

When he's not practicing brain games with his humans, he likes to snack on salmon skin chews and beef liver. In fact, he's quite the celebrity at our local pet store, and he knows to make a beeline for the counter every time, where the cashiers will give him beef liver treats. Joey was also groomsdog at our wedding, and he definitely stole the show. Everyone said he was the most well-behaved groomsdog ever!

Unlike most shelties, Joey's ears stick straight up, making him look like a fluffy fox. When we are out on walks, passersby frequently comment on his fox-like appearance. Though he is quite prim and proper on his walks, Joey will occasionally misbehave and bark at Mimi, the dog next door with whom he has a love-hate relationship. Nonetheless, he is a sweet, lovable dog who endears himself to everyone he meets--most people are surprised at how friendly he is, in fact, given that he is a sheltie.

Overall, Joey loves his humans, and he winds down each day cuddling beside them on the couch. Some of his known aliases include J.J. Bean, J-Doggit, Fluff Nugget, Sir Fluffington, and Joey-Woey.
