Marco, three siblings and his Mother were rescued from underneath an industrial building shortly after a major storm subsided. The puppies were only four days old. All five went immediately into an exceptional foster care family who crate-trained and socialized all of them. I saw him on the Petfinders site and immediately submitted my application to the accredited rescue organization who called me the next day to further inquire about my home, plans for training, veterinarian contacts, etc. I was impressed ; they even phoned my local veterinarian in Abbotsford, BC to validate my claim of responsible animal care and medical attention when needed. Vaccinated, neutered and issued a clean bill of health, Marco was now up for adoption. After numerous follow-up phone calls, on February 14th, my partner and I picked him up and brought him home as a 3 month old lovable, curious and distinguished new member of our fur and feathered family. He now has a 7 year old "sister" dog named Sofie, three affectionate feline pals, a huge fully fenced 2 acre yard to run and play in and horses to view in their own pasture. He and I entered Puppy Training and Basic Manners class and are continuing our goal of respecting the peafowl and chickens in the yard. Soon we will obtain a DNA test to inquire about his breed background. The best guesses have been part beagle, part boxer and part pit bull. He is a constant delight and now at 1 yr/3 months has become a friend to every human and animal that he meets.
