Roy the Pug came into my life as a baby in 2009 .
My husband had passed away in May of that year and my previous pug "Edison" a month later. Roy , full of life and love, filled a huge void in my heart at the time and has been a faithful, loving and mischievous companion every since.
He is very smart and can identify by name and fetch 18 different toys ( although he is getting deaf now so it is more difficult for him to understand which one I want...so he just keeps bringing them until he scores with the correct one).
When he was just 6 months old he managed to dig under the fence to the neighbouring yard where I found him ( fortunately right away) trying to get their pit bull to play with him. Yikes !!
Roy loves to be the center of attention at all times and is always interested in anyone who happens to have a treat on hand. One of the City Workers gave him a biscuit when he was just a baby so every time he sees someone in a "Visi-Vest"( and I mean anyone!) he
runs over in anticipation of a handout and then pouts all the way home if he doesn't get one.
He has a girlfriend named Chequers and they have been together since puppyhood. They still love to go on walks together and Roy always remembers her birthday and Valentine's Day .
This picture shows Roy all dressed up and ready to go visit Chequers to give her a Christmas present in 2019. Sadly that is the last Christmas he was permitted in her house, and she in his, because of COVID; however, he is hoping that things will be different this year .

Roy reminds me every day not to sweat the small stuff and to live in the moment. In the words of Bonnie Henry..to be kind, to be calm and to be safe .
