Jazz is almost 8 years old and came to join me on Dec 22, 2021 from the Nanaimo SPCA. I had lost my spouse 1 1/2 years before so she is a welcomed companion.
I am grateful to the previous owners who had to surrender her due to their great age. They provided her familiar 'tree', carrier, toys and food which helped her greatly to have something familiar in so much change.
Jazz was very shy and hid for the first 10 days but I knew she was ok as the food would disappear. In time she came to be seen then was enticed especially by a mouse on a string. In time she would rub against me and all her back to be scratched. Eventually she allowed me to brush her with a grooming mitt and began to purr.

I would pretend chase her and pretend run... she got the message and joined in the game sometimes hiding and batting my jeans leg to call me into play. Within a few months she took up residence at the foot of my bed. After a year she lolly-gags all over the bed, rolling and slipping under the covers for a few hours 'cat nap'. She has several accessible windows and makes her tour of them all, night and day to peruse the latest visitors in the yard, including racoons.

I adore Jazz and her antics and I feel assured by her willingness to be held for a couple of minutes while purring loudly. If I am outside for a couple of hours she comes running to the door to greet me. She lights up my life.
