My mom and dad got Casey before I was even born, so I’ve known her all my life. She is so full of love that no matter what kind of day you have at school (or even when my mom has a bad day at work) you always know you will feel better when you come home to Casey’s love and cuddles. Plus she has the softest ears of any dog you’ve ever met.

Casey is not just my hero, she has inspired so many people over the past years, and never stopped fighting to keep on loving us. In 2012, she was diagnosed with a bladder tumour, the veterinarian said there was a 30% chance of getting the cancer away through the risky operation. On the day of the operation, I remember giving her a hug before heading of to school that day, knowing I may never see her again.

After school my mom came up to my sister and I. She said that the operation went really well, and now Casey was at home resting. Casey’s now known as “the miracle dog” at her vet as she recovered well and continued to have fun and give us mountains of love.

And, three years later, look who just turned 15? Our beautiful yellow lab named Casey did. Casey's story just proves to never give up and to keep giving love.
