Dakota was adopted as a puppy and before the age of one we discovered she needed metal plates fused in both her hind legs in order to walk and run. Dakota was an amazing dog, full of life, love and above all loved her treats. After multiple surgeries to replace broken plates and screws that had weakened over the years, we found out her left hind leg had to be amputated. We were greatly mistaken in thinking this would slow her down or dampen her spirit. She loved going for walks, car rides and bathing in the kiddy pool in the backyard. Sadly just two months after she turned eleven in October 2014, we found out Dakota would need yet another surgery (surgery number seven), this time to remove a tumor on her right hind leg. After her surgery we learned that it was an aggressive stage of cancer which had already spread throughout her body. Less than a month later Dakota passed away at home in my arms. She will forever be missed and remembered.
