When these 2 rescue boys first met at age year and a half, there was apprehension that they may not get along due to their breed type, closeness in age and previous life history. After a few weeks of adjustment that quickly became a myth. Rupert (pictured on left) was the first to join our family, therefore was naturally quick to demonstrate his alpha male skills when Brandon came along. To our pleasure and surprise, the two boys started to show a deep admiration and respect for each other. During playtime they never showed any aggression although their play would be very jovial for two big dogs, Brandon was always trying to make an impression on Rupert. During rest and sleep time the two would share a bed even though there were two beds. They not only shared a bed but in some way had to be touching each other either with a paw, or their backs pressed up to each other or their heads resting on the other, a comical site as it was not always easy for two dogs of their size to comfortably fit on the dog bed! It became apparent to us that they were providing comfort and security to the other both having come from very unhappy beginnings. Rupert and Brandon now entering their sixth year together have brought our family many happy times and have not only demonstrated a big love for each other but have extended that love to us as well. We are eternally grateful to have these "brothers from another Mother" in our lives!
