Abigail is my 6-year-old great dane enjoying a relaxing tanning session with her little sister California, a 2-year-old Chiweenie. California is a rescue dog from a high-kill shelter down in the states. When we brought her home at the beginning of this year Abigail accepted her into the family and treats her like her little baby. California was fearful of the outdoors and all the new events in her life. Abigail took her under her (sometimes literally) and guided her through all the new experiences. Now California is a confident little girl with a heart of gold. Hiking and exploring local trails is their favourite past time and suntanning of course. Abigail is a hero to me for being such a "role model" and California is a hero to me for being so resilient and finding her spark in a new home.
