Animal Bio
Takaya, whose name comes from a First Nations word for "wolf," is an Australian red tricolor shepherd with a spirit as wild and beautiful as the land her name honors. Smart, athletic, and brimming with joy, she carries the heart of the wilderness in her soulful eyes and the boundless energy of open fields in her every stride.

Born on a sprawling farm five hours north of Toronto, Takaya spent her earliest days surrounded by the rhythm of rural life—fields to roam, fresh air to breathe, and plenty of room to grow strong and confident. At just the right moment, she made a life-changing journey across the country, traveling in a crate from Ontario to her forever home in West Vancouver. That day, she bounded into my life, and nothing has been the same since.

Takaya is more than a pet—she’s my best friend, my hiking buddy, my early morning alarm clock, and the keeper of every crumb in the kitchen. Her love of food is legendary (though she’d tell you she’s always just a little hungry). She greets every new day with unshakable enthusiasm, whether we’re heading out for a mountain adventure or just lounging at home with the scent of the sea breeze drifting through the window.

She’s sharp as a whip, with a mind that loves puzzles and a heart that thrives on connection. Whether she’s chasing a ball, mastering a new trick, or resting her head quietly in my lap, Takaya radiates the kind of love and loyalty that only a dog can give.

In every way that matters, she is family
