From the wilds of northern Saskatchewan, I once ran alone—lost my pack and fended for myself as a growing pup. Now I’m a 75-lb shepherd mix with six toes on each back paw—yes, dodeca-toed for extra cuddles!

At five months old, kind humans rescued me and brought me all the way to the Kootenays, where I now live with two wise husky elders—14-year-old die-hard sledders from Thunder Bay who still hop up to play with me every morning.

I nurse a stubbornly creaky elbow, a souvenir from my wild pup days. It means I can’t bulk up into the muscle-bound hunk I dream of being. Instead, my humans keep me on a lean, mean adventure diet. It's the “light beer” version, but I get extra salmon oil and just enough fuel to bounce around the mountains without the ouch.
