Just under 11 yrs ago, we gave in to a boy’s pleading puppy dog eyes to rescue this flea-ridden, Lyme- infected, unsocialized/un-potty trained pupster who had been chained to a tree most of her 11 mo old life. She ATE A SOFA her first week with us, guarded toys and treats, & had to figure out what freedom & “good dog” meant. So much to learn: new foods, parks, dogs, hydrants, & people. She learned to trust. She found her voice—literally. She never barked until one day a small bark escaped & no one reprimanded her. She learned she was safe. And now…she’s loyal, quirky, an EXCELLENT communicator & SPOILED rotten. She picks her friends wisely & has created quite an impressive fan club for herself over the years. She’s beat Mast Cell Cancer once & plans to live her senior years with abundance, which most days means sniffing every blade of grass and freely chasing boats & dolphin in her Grammy’s backyard with her Goldendoodle pal, Rusty. I call her my crooked-nosed dog but without a doubt, she’s HOME.
