Sky spent his first two years in a single-wide trailer with about 50 other dogs. When he and the other dogs were taken from the owner, they had to spend several more months in a shelter while their owner tried to get them back (unsuccessfully). He then went to a foster family where he made great progress. But even after two years there, he still was afraid of many things including leashes, most people (especially men), and high-pitched sounds.

When Sky came to my house two years ago, he instantly bonded with Oliver, his soulmate/twin. Unfortunately, Oliver was old and had used up all of his extra doggie lives, so Oliver died only a week after Sky joined our family. Luckily, there was still Shylah, who had been like a dog momma to Oliver. Sky attached himself to her and she accepted him.

Now, Shylah has helped Sky learn to love walks (on leashes) and car rides sitting in the back seat, and Sky has showed Shylah how to play. Sky loves digging holes in the backyard and getting belly rubs on the couch. He is the perfect example of how far a rescue dog can come!
