ABOUT McGEE:

In fall 2013, I visited a local animal shelter in my quest to rescue a dog who was in need of a forever home. Into the meet-up room walked the cutest smiley face I'd ever seen, and in less than a minute, I knew he was going home with me that day!

The following week, while being checked over by his new veterinarian, she discovered that McGee required heart surgery in order to live to see his first birthday. A several-hour operation later, McGee was, incredibly, as good as new. We recently celebrated his tenth birthday!

McGee has more than repaid the kindness by giving his time, energy, and love not only to me and to his daddy, but also to countless others: we became a registered therapy dog team several years ago, and he continues to bring so much joy to so many people at both UNC Hospitals and at Glenwood Elementary School. He is a furry bundle of endless sloppy kisses and love everywhere he goes.
