Some Friends and I have an annual three day float trip starting on the Buffalo river ending on the White river, always on Columbus day weekend.
In 2012 at the end of our journey there was a Basset hound running along the bank barking at us. We asked some of the locals what was up with the rowdy hound, and they told us he had been dumped there a few weeks earlier. I was impressed by his determination to make new friends, so I loaded him up with the gear and boats and dubbed him Columbus after our float. He has another furry brother and sister now and they are thick as thieves.
