We adopted Xena from a local rescue that goes down to Mississippi to bring dogs back here to PA. Shortly after her 1st birthday, we found out that she was Heartworm positive. Heartworm is not very common here in PA and we drove over an hour to find the right fit for a vet that we felt confident enough to treat her. Ten days out of her last injection, we all woke up one morning and were sitting on the couch when she collapsed and went unresponsive. When she started to come to, her paws were tensed up and we were terrified. We rushed her to the Emergency vets where they monitored her for a few hours and told us that we are very lucky that she is still here with us!! Now a litle over a year later she is Heartworm negative and loving life again!!! She absolutely completed our family and we could not be happier because she is the best dog ever!!!
