Pet's Story or Bio
Daisy came to us from Houston, TX in 2018. She was in pretty bad shape when she was first found as a stray. Over 20 lbs underweight, with skin infections and heartworm disease that had already caused enlargement of her heart. She had very little muscle on her and got winded after just short walks. She likely would have died if she had not been rescued and if Boulder Valley Humane Society had not transported her from TX to Colorado. But thank goodness they did and what a turnaround it has been since! The moment she walked into our house, she switched from depressed, abandoned shelter dog to such a happy, playful, loving pup! Fast forward a few months and she completed heartworm treatment and was finally able to gain some stamina and come hiking with us. She learned how to scramble and has now summited five 14ers with us and many other mountains. She is a true best friend and adventure companion, having visited 6 states, 7 national parks (including the Great Sand Dunes!), and gone on countless camping trips. More recently, she has become the best big sister to numerous foster dogs that have come through our house, teaching them that they too can learn "how to dog" and enjoy everything that Colorado and their furever family has to offer.
