Cane is a 4 year old Blue Heeler mix and was adopted from the North Texas Humane Society shelter on Christmas eve 2020 by his mom, dad, and big sister. They called him Candy Cane, but just Cane for short. Before he found his forever home he was surrendered to the shelter by his original owner who was not very nice to him. He was mistreated and under-socialized so he had a lot of fear and anxiety. He was adopted by a family and then brought back because of his anxiety. He was a scared pup that just needed to decompress and know that not all people are mean. He got his Christmas wish when his family showed up to the shelter to look at another dog. He sat in his kennel scared and lonely. When his soon to be new dad saw him, he instantly knew that this boy needed a new family that could show him what love really is and he could learn to trust. Cane now lives in Colorado Springs with his family and even has a canine brother, Otis who is also a shelter pup. Cane loves his family so much and is the best boy and very loyal. Cane loves fluffy and squeaky toys, belly and ear rubs, but most of all tennis balls. You will often find him playing fetch in the backyard with his mom.
