Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc., (BCR) was founded in 2005 by mother-daughter shelter volunteers who wanted to save the cats that shelters reject - blind cats and those who test positive for FIV or feline leukemia (FeLV) - who are immediately euthanized in animal control facilities in many states. Without BCR, they would not be alive to demonstrate to a global audience every day that they deserve to live.
Using social media, 24-hour access cameras, open houses, tours, and volunteer opportunities, BCR uses its strong platform to educate people and other organizations about the true abilities of blind cats and those positive for FIV or FeLV.
BCR also supports a neighborhood spay/neuter program working to fix 2,500 cats in 2024, targeting managed colonies. This effort will prevent more than 10,000 homeless kittens from being born, living in harm’s way, and reproducing.
