Animal Bio
Joseph was a wedding gift from my husband in 2008, and was my soul dog. I met him at my first BREW adoption event and it was love at first site. A true beagle, he was always up for an adventure or a snuggle on the couch. His nose got him into trouble many times and he was a very sneaky food thief! He welcomed many foster beagles into our home over the years and helped to teach them what it meant to be a house dog. He would also come to work with me (I am a Veterinary Technician) to help train new employees on animal care. He was always patient and calm and just looked at you with his trusting eyes, believing in you even when you didn’t believe in yourself. He was my copilot on the 20+ hour drive from Virginia to Texas, sitting up front the whole time helping me keep an eye on the road. Sadly, he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2015. He fought a courageous battle, undergoing weekly chemo treatments, and went into remission for 8 months before succumbing to cancer in 2017. Throughout it all he remained my loyal companion, showing me unconditional love and helping me to let him go with grace and dignity. He may no longer be by my side, but he is forever in my heart.
