Daisy is a 13” beagle who loves to tunnel under the covers. Every night at 9 she gets the zoomies, finds a toy and drags it up on the bed and under the covers. That’s when she tells us she’s going to sleep. Daisy has beautiful eyes, a endless appetite and a very active nose. She bugs her sister Stella, a German Shepherd dog, with endless energy and constant play bow. Daisy is a kiss machine and a gift from heaven. Six months earlier, our first beagle, Lily, crossed the rainbow bridge at 15 years old. The heartache our family felt, including Stella, was immeasurable. Every day we had to open all of the doors in our whole house just to show Stella Lily wasn’t there. It was heartbreaking to see her cry at a closet door convinced she smelled her beagle best friend Lily when it was only an old toy. Just when we thought we couldn’t cry anymore, we got a call. The same woman who gave me Lily had another beagle who was expecting. A few weeks later we flew across the country to get our Daisy Dog. The second we brought her in the door our sad, moping German Shepherd sprang to her feet, danced and spun. Happier than we’d ever seen her. They became instant best friends. In fact the only time you get an AROOOOO out of Daisy is when you separate her and Stella. She cries and howls until they’re together again. The pain of losing a beagle will never go away. It leaves a hole in your heart that will never completely disappear. But thanks to Daisy, our hearts and our home is filled with the love and laughter only a beagle brings.
