Holly, who was Mango when we adopted her in March 2013, is our sixth Beagle. Three of our Beagles have been BREW Beagles! To say we LOVE Beagles is an understatement!! Holly is such a sweetie pie and has been through so much in her short life. She came to us with pretty severe separation anxiety. We worked with the best trainer in the world on Holly’s separation anxiety for TWO years and also consulted with two Veterinary Behaviorists! There was NO way that we weren't going to help our sweet girl feel ok, being home alone. Last May, Holly ruptured two discs in her back. Being longtime Beagle guardians, we were very familiar with this. Holly was in tremendous pain. We got her surgery almost immediately, as we knew medical management was not going to work for her. The surgery was successful! Afterwards, Holly had hydrotherapy and I learned how to do exercises with her at home to help in her recovery. Unfortunately, last year our Vet heard a heart murmur and we got an ultrasound of her heart done. Holly has mitral value insufficiency. It was stable for a year, but just this month, on her check up ultrasound, it showed that her heart disease had progressed. Holly went on medication to help her heart. The next stage is congested heart failure. We truly hope we can maintain her where she is now and have MANY MORE years with our sweet girl. Everyday is a gift!! This has been an unusual journey with Holly, but we certainly wouldn’t change a thing!! This photo shows her on the beach with us in the Outer Banks, NC.
