Animal Bio
Brunella is a true BREW rescue that we adopted almost 13 years ago as a puppy. Her name is a grateful nod to her rescuers and to her new beagle sister back then, Nelly. Brunella enjoys her life and, as her picture indicates, has a regal nature. Her typical day goes like this: A good series of "woofs" between 6 and 7 a.m. to sound the bell that she is ready for breakfast. As her mom or dad get her bowl ready, she takes a brisk sniff around the yard to investigate any potential trespassers to her kingdom. (Unless, of course, it is raining whereupon she refuses to go out in the rain unless her humans shield her with a large golf umbrella!) After a satisfying morning meal and long drink of water, she retires again for a nice nap. Once rested, Brunella takes her humans on a walk around the neighborhood to greet other dogs. She sniffs their humans for any potential treats, and permits them to "ooh and ahh" over her as she accepts their praise and petting with grace and patience. That is all followed by another snooze that often involves the gleeful churning of her legs as she dreams of running into the kitchen to get imaginary treats, or chasing rabbits and puppies. Feeling quite refreshed, she goes to her napping beagle sister and "arooos" in her ear to wake her up to play in the backyard. By 4 pm, Brunella has worked up an appetite and walks around the house next to her her mom or dad giving them soulful stares and occasionally letting out a "Feed me now!" woof that every beagle owner recognizes. (Her beagle sister models Brunella's behavior such that we have 2 pairs of baleful eyes staring at us like they haven't had food in weeks.) After hounding her humans into submission, she gets her dinner between 5 and 6 p.m. With a full belly, Brunella goes to the front door indicating she would now like another survey of her land. Her humans harness her and her sister up and take them on a leisurely stroll so that Brunella can greet her neighborhood subjects for the evening. Brunella prefers to retire for the night by 9 p.m. and comes to her mom and dad to say "goodnight". As she did when she was a 5 lb puppy, the now 27 lb. Brunella hops up on her dad's lap for a few minutes of snuggles before she toddles sleepily into her bed. She wakes herself enough to give her bed a good work over pushing the covers this way and that until they are just right. Within minutes, she is asleep and snoring next to her beagle sister indicating that her mom and dad are relieved of their domestic duties until morning. And that is a day in the life of our wonderful and majestic Brunella!
