Arson’s Story

Arson is not just our cat—he is our family, our comfort, and our light in a very difficult year. After losing our three beloved cats, each of whom lived long lives of nearly 20 years, we swore we could never go through that heartbreak again. Then we met Arson.

We are his third set of pet parents. His first family was going to abandon him in the snow, and his second family was forced to give him up due to financial hardship. That is how Arson found his way to us, and how we were rescued by him.

Arson has a way of knowing exactly when we need love the most. With a gentle head bunt, a soft purr, or by stretching out his paws (which we fondly call his “hands”), he reminds us that joy still exists. We don’t have children, but we cherish him as if he were our own.

Last year, Arson was chosen as a “Staff Pick,” though he couldn’t attend the photoshoot because it was held outdoors. Understandably, he is frightened of being outside—even the slightest wind unsettles him—but inside our home, he shines.

This has been a truly heartbreaking year for our family, but through it all, Arson has been our steady source of comfort, love, and laughter. We believe, with all our hearts, that while we may have adopted him, it is truly Arson who rescued us.
