🐾 Who We Are
The Central Alberta Humane Society (CA Humane) is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping animals in need. We are not government funded — everything we do is made possible through public donations and fundraising efforts like this GoGo Photo Contest!
Our Story
Founded in 1976 as the Parkland Humane SPCA
Became the Red Deer & District SPCA in 2000
Evolved into the Central Alberta Humane Society in 2017
While our name has changed over the years, our mission has remained the same: to prevent cruelty, provide compassionate care, and give animals a second or third chance at life.
What We Do (With Your Support ❤️)
Thanks to our community, here’s how we make a difference:
🏥 Provide medical care and rehoming for stray, homeless, and abused companion animals
🐾 Offer pet adoptions – all pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, health-checked, and vaccinated
🔎 Run Lost & Found services to reunite pets with families
💙 Provide compassionate pet surrender services
✂️ Deliver our PALS (Prevent Another Litter Subsidy) Program for low-income pet owners
🆘 Offer Emergency Boarding for people in crisis or displacement
🥫 Operate a monthly Pet Food Bank for families needing temporary help
🙌 Welcome volunteers and foster families — including inclusive programs for adults with disabilities
🎓 Provide Children’s PD Day & Summer Camps plus school presentations to inspire humane education
🐕 Promote responsible pet ownership through the City of Red Deer dog licensing program
🌈 Offer dignified pet cremation services for families saying goodbye to beloved companions
Every entry in this contest helps ensure these vital programs continue for the animals and people of Central Alberta.
