Approximately 16 years ago, my nieces mom rescued this tiny Maltese from the shelter. Eight years ago my nieces’ parents got divorced and she asked if she could come stay with our family. She and little man lived with us up until three years ago when my niece move to San Marcos. Before she moved out, she asked if I would take care of Little Man because she knew he was getting older and as a young adult on her own for the first time she knew she wouldn’t be able to afford to take care of his medical needs so I happily agreed. Last year we found a lump right under his chin fast forward to May 2024. He underwent surgery to remove a mast cell tumor that had grown to be the size of his head. The surgeon said she probably wouldn’t be able to get all the margins and it would probably come back. Two months later it did come back. I went back to the oncologist and they put him on Paladia. After the second treatment, the tumor was completely gone. Now he is struggling with anemia and some kidney issues, and requiring round the clock care which I am happy to do because he is the love of my life. My favorite time of the day with him is when we go to bed and my undivided attention is focused solely on the sweet baby.
