Gracie Harriet and 50 other dogs were rescued from a hoarding situation in the County in late summer 2016. Two months earlier I had lost my darling boy Harry, also a B&W JRT mix (and CASPCA alum). When I saw Gracie Harriet's sweet face on CASPCA's website, I knew Harry had sent her to me to take his place. Thus the name: Gracie Harriet, loosely translated, "Thank you, Harry!" I raced to the shelter to meet her. When a staff member handed Gracie (then named McKenzie) to me, she looked scared to death. We sat quietly on a bench in the shelter's lobby for a few minutes, until I felt her heart rate drop. Then she shyly turned toward me and licked my nose. I knew then that we were golden. Five years later, Gracie still makes my heart melt!
