Little Abbott was found wandering in a field in West Virginia and taken to the local shelter, but no one claimed him so Castaway Critters came to his aid and transported him to Lancaster, PA. Casey and Stephanie had been looking for the perfect dog to replace their beloved Doc (a Doxie/Jack Russell mix) who passed in early 2016. Abbott looked perfect. We got approved and drove up 3.5 hours to meet him. The rule was 'we won't say yes right away, we'll go get lunch and talk about it so we don't make a rash decision.' We met him, went to lunch, and I asked Casey 'So what do you think?' and he said 'There's nothing to talk about.' And then he came home with us, one of the best decisions of our lives. Penny came three years later from a rescue in California. She'd escaped her first home and was living with a homeless man in a car in Compton. My sister helped me get through the paperwork and pick her up until I could fly out two weeks later and brought her home. Now Abbott and Penny are inseparable buddies, roaming the back yard and playing like there's no tomorrow.
