The Community Care Clinic is a free clinic that provides healthcare to low-income, uninsured persons in our community. Through our integrated care model, patients have access to high-quality services that include primary care, behavioral health, disease management, active follow-up, and continuity of care. Funds raised by the Pawfect Pets for Community Health help us to be able provide the services listed above completely free. A small percentage of money raised will also be donated to the Watauga Humane Society to support our neighbor organization who helps match humans with their perfect friend.
Why a Pet Photo Contest?
Did you know that pets are beneficial to your health? From the CDC: Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets can increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness to their owners. Some of the health benefits of having a pet include:
- Decreased blood pressure
- Decreased cholesterol levels
- Decreased triglyceride levels
- Decreased feelings of loneliness
- Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities
- Increased opportunities for socialization
In an effort to continue to socially distance, help us raise funds for the CCC by honoring the fur babies (or feathery, scaly, hairless...babies) who have helped us all through a year plus of pandemic life.
May is also Mental Health Awareness month! Check out this article about the effects that pet ownership could have on a person's mental health.
