A little about me...
“I am a retired combat veteran with 20 years of service in the Army. I retired in 2018 and moved back to the area. When I retired I was sort of lost in what I was going to do on the outside. My whole adult life was military so that was all I knew. I had issues dealing with things after deployments so I signed up for the Pawsitive for Heroes program with WNY Heroes. That’s when I began training with my service dog, Sven. 

Sven has helped me deal with many of the challenges of PTSD that many of our veterans face. He has made it a lot easier to deal with crowds and tasks that involve people and events. 

For the past two years, Sven and I have had the great opportunity to celebrate Sven and all he has done for me with the Resurgence to the Rescue Photo Contest. Sven has won the contest two years in a row but it was time to retire the champion. That is until we were invited to compete in the Celebrity Resurgence to the Rescue Photo Contest! 

Sven is a celebrity in his own right as he brings happiness to myself and anyone who meets him, but he’s also my best friend. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without Sven.
