We adopted Zooey from the Chico Animal Shelter in 2018, right before the Camp Fire. I began searching the shelters for a cat, even though we already had two. It was as if she reached out to me and said, "I'm here, ready for adoption!" I got in my car, picked her up and brought her home. She was such a comfort to me during the dark days of the fire! And she is the queen of our household of three calicos to this day.
