A little about me...Meet Joey, an exceptional 7-year-old brown tabby kitty. Joey maintains an amazing spirit despite suffering a serious traumatic injury to his front legs prior to his rescue. His right front leg was traumatically amputated at the elbow and the bones in his left front carpus (the equivalent of our wrist) were crushed. Joey was brought to the attention of CDCK by one of our amazing shelter partners after he was found abandoned outdoors. It is always hard to understand how a pet can be abandoned but in Joey’s case it is doubly hard to comprehend given that he is completely defenseless. Thanks to CDCK and their amazing supporters Joey arrived in the metro DC area in Sept 2018 and received a very complex orthopedic surgery to stabilize his remaining front leg. I was Joey’s long-term foster and in February 2020 he became part in of my permanent family where he continues to thrive and cause the maximum amount of mischief. I shudder daily to think how much mischief he would get into if he had 4 legs!!
