Pet Bio
Mitzie had been in two homes before she ended up age 8 months at the Newington Humane Society. When I “found” her, she was desperate for affection and began purring the moment I said her name. Now 2 years old, she is my constant companion and follows me wherever I go. She perches on the bookshelf while I am reading in the armchair below, and especially loves lounging with me on our screened porch where she can watch the birds and any activity in the neighborhood.

Fun Facts
Mitzie has learned English! She understands and responds to a number of verbal commands (my responses to forbidden behavior, or me asking her if she wants something.) . Her name, of course, which I use to precede the following commands or queries: “Up, up,” “Off the table,” “Porch, porch?” “No claws!” (when she starts clawing the rug or my armchair), “Fish, fish?”, and “Where’s your toy?” So far, she doesn’t say anything in response except a meow or two.

Favorite Hobbies
Watching me. Watching the birds. Playing with her toys, especially feathers on a wand and chasing me from her tunnel or box cave.
