Katniss embodied all of the wonderful attributes that her name suggests—courage, athleticism, playfulness, and kindness (toward her sister). She was the perfect cat. I adopted her from a shelter when I lived in New York. I had to say good-bye to her last year, because she had cancer. I live alone and Katniss and her sister were my constant companions during the pandemic. It was particularly heartbreaking to say good-bye to her in 2021.
