Your Pet's Rescue Story
I was told may not be able to teach an older dog new tricks, however Tigger is now a Lake county Paws therapy dog. She not only rescued me when I was in a deep funk when my best friend died at the age of 38 from cancer, but she got a chance to give her therapy before her journey as well. The way she reacted to that special moment told me I cannot keep her loving demeanor to myself. It's her mission for me to share her. She had never been out in the world with other dogs so with the help of Petco and Kim's cabbage patch we went on weekly visits to socialize, while picking up a few groceries of course. She told me to put her to work so I got her trained and certified through the national alliance of therapy dogs with Paw's doing the training. She now gives therapy to assisted living centers, hospitals, and recently made friends at the Orlando down syndrome kids camp at the JW Marriott. Her first event was paws in the park lake eola. She even attended an appreciation party at Rocky's retreat given by the Orlando pet alliance for being part of the number one Disney dogs team. Everyday she is and continues to rescue me and my heart as my hero. I am so proud that I in fact was able to train this dog new tricks, healing tricks.
