Pet's Story
My husband Glenn was volunteering last fall after our pooch and best friend Henry passed away. He was only 10 years old. We were all shocked and so very sad. Glenn loved going to the New Fairfield / Sherman Animal Welfare Society and was falling in love with every beautiful dog there. However, we both decided we would wait a while longer before adopting another pooch. We had a plan. Sammi was one of the many dogs Glenn walked and played with. She was a huge dog with a broken leg and a cone head that needed a Forster family. Glenn and I knew we wanted to help her get healthy and strong enough to be adopted. What we didn't know was how loving, sweet, funny, and kind hearted she was. The rest is history. She found her forever home ! We can not understand how such a wonderful dog could be given away 3 times. Our heart breaks thinking about it. We know we were meant for each other and were never big on "plans". Sammi has a big family now that loves her to pieces. We are grateful for all the love, support and dedication everyone has at the New Fairfield-Sherman Animal Welfare Society. We will celebrate a year with Sammi in a few months with all her favorite foods which is everything! We look forward to giving Sammi all the love she has missed. Glenn and Geri.
