About Your Pet
Herbert is an eight-year-old American Bulldog Mix, and he is a perfect angel. He is as gentle as a lamb and looks just like a baby cow. In 2016, he was rescued from life on a chain by Voices of Chance Animal League (VOCAL). He was adopted by Tim and Zoe in December 2017. He loves resting his head on someone’s lap, sunbathing, giving his family smooshy face nuzzles, and tenderly carrying around his favorite tennis ball. His smile looks just like Eeyore’s from the old Winnie the Pooh cartoon.

When Herbert was rescued from living 24/7 on a chain, he was malnourished, dirty, desperately lonely, his teeth were worn down from biting the chain, and he needed medical attention. But he didn’t let that stop his loving spirit. He gave lots of kisses to the VOCAL volunteers as they nursed him back to health and gave him his first bath. He made friends with the adoptable cats at his foster home, followed his foster mom Crystal around while she did chores, and frequently nestled in a laundry basket. Fast-forward to today.... he follows his parents around like a duckling, snuggles on the couch or in bed for hours, and can sense if someone is sick or is having a hard time and lays completely on top of them to make sure they don’t feel alone. Herbert had such a hard life, but he never lets that keep him from loving every soul he meets. When he looks in your eyes, you know you are loved unconditionally, and he would do anything for you.
