Corridor Rescue is a nonprofit organization on a mission to save lives and correct an injustice to animals who have been thrown away and left, often times injured and starving, to fend for themselves in the area of near north Houston, an area dubbed the "Corridor of Cruelty". We're not talking about a handful of animals, but hundreds of physically and emotionally damaged animals in the fight of their lives to simply survive another day.
Started by one person, Corridor Rescue has grown its team of volunteers, from all walks of life, united in an effort to help this community of orphaned animals in desperate need of help.
JERICHO'S STORYStreet feeder JaNell and her son came across Jericho, a dog that had been abandoned in Houston’s Corridor of Cruelty and was stuck under a dumped couch and crying out of pain and misery. They rescued Jericho and rushed him to the emergency room. His normal weight should be around 80-100 pounds but Jericho weighed only 39 pounds at intake. Tests have revealed urinary tract infections, autoimmune meningitis, spinal cord infections, possible tumors. He has had some rough and painful times. He has been with a medical foster for a few weeks now and is gaining weight. Through it all he has been very loving with his foster and has craved her gentle touch. He has been gaining weight and has started on chemotherapy.
From being trapped under a dumped couch and weighing less than half of what he should, to receiving life-saving medical attention and beginning chemotherapy, Jericho’s progress is a testament to both his resilience and the power of kindness. It's especially moving to hear how loving and trusting he's remained, despite everything he’s been through. Here is a news story.
