I hadn’t planned on adopting a cat anytime soon. But during one of my volunteer shifts at the Lawrence Humane Society, I felt an immense bond with Minnie. I couldn’t stop thinking about her afterward, and I knew that if I didn’t bring her home, I would deeply regret it. Thankfully, she was still there the next day—and the rest is history!!! She came into my life at a time when I truly needed her, and in many ways, she saved me during one of the darkest periods of my life.
