Hello, my name is Rose and I am as beautiful as my name sounds. Late last year I came to WCHS from Texas and met a wonderful family who took me home. We were all having a grand time together and I was very happy; I was even allowed on the couch to hang out with them in the evenings and got to sleep with them in bed at night. Unfortunately, the circumstances in the family changed and they had to move out of their house and could not take me with them. It was a sad decision for everyone but I am confident I will find another phenomenal home and am content to chill out with the terrific folks at the shelter until I do. I could share my home with a dog buddy as long as we are compatible and they are a medium to large breed like me; I weigh about 75 pounds. To ensure we can live in tranquility we will need to meet before I make any commitments. My dog friends need to understand and share my play style; I am very tolerant and know how to play bow to indicate I am just having fun but I do play rough and can be a little pushy. I should never go to a dog park to play because I do not like small dogs at all and could even be too much for some bigger dogs. Speaking of small furry creatures, I absolutely cannot share a home with any cats; they are way too much fun to chase and torment. My ancestors often had the job of mustering and droving livestock so my breed has unlimited energy, a tendency to nip at heels and an independent spirit. Any children in my family should be 12 years or older so they can help with my training; I am a strong gal who needs lots of exercise and structure. I am still working on my manners and get a tad wild with handling because I think it is all a game and can get jumpy and mouthy. I am not a super fan of nail trims and have been known to pull my paw back now and again during that activity. I am hoping we can do training exercises together to practice my obedience skills; I could excel at agility or other canine sports. To be happy, healthy and well behaved I need plenty of physical and mental stimulation. In my previous home I hung out in a crate when I was alone and am comfortable in my little den for reasonable amounts of time; that way I do not feel like I have to take care of the whole house by myself. I was on a fairly regular schedule to take potty breaks so I never really had to develop any signal for my people and I did phenomenally with house-training. I accept treats gently and would love to demonstrate that skill if you ask me to ‘sit', ‘lay down', ‘shake' or ‘high-5'. I invented a fun game where I steal socks from you but am easy about returning them so you can put them on your feet. I am alert, friendly and eager to please; I promise to be loyal to you forever. I have been described as playful, intelligent, active, watchful and very affectionate. I love to lay next to my people and sometimes try and talk with them.
