Provide a few short sentences explaining what makes your pet the “Cutest pet in Washington, Ozaukee and Waukesha and surrounding Counties” — or maybe all of Wisconsin!
Hi Ya, my name is Ryder and I am a HUGE wiggle-butt. I do not use the term ‘huge' lightly, I weigh about 75 pounds and have a little growing yet to do; I am simply a big lovable tank. I lived with a family since I was a wee pup but as I grew, I was a bit much for the little tykes in the family so I came to WCHS to find a new home. Since I sometimes forget how big I am and can be a tad mouthy, any children in my family should be 8 years or older. I still have to learn some manners so I am a welcome community member wherever I go. Maybe we could take some obedience classes together and I could practice four on the floor; unless you want a bear hug from a big lug. I will thrive as the one and only pet in your home so I should not have any canine or feline roommates. I have no problem sharing my things with my people but I really do not like sharing my toys and other valuable resources with other dogs; as far as cats go, well, they are positively too much fun to torment. I am hoping for a family that will give me patient and positive training and a routine; plus lots of exercise. I have been working diligently on house-training and am doing pretty well but am not 100% just yet. If I need to go outside, I tend to pace around and if I need to get your attention I may bark. Initially I think it would be best to be on a regular schedule until I am comfortable in my new home and get the lay of the land. When I am alone, I am comfortable in a crate so that I do not have to take care of the whole house by myself. If left to roam free I have been known to get into things and eat everything I find; young pups tend to explore the world with their mouths. At this point I am a bit nervous about riding in cars but I think that is something I could work through with your help. Maybe if we paired yummy treats with short trips to fun places that we could walk or hang out together I would learn to love car rides. I have been described as friendly, playful, affectionate, tolerant and active with a smidge of stubbornness. I am excellent with all sorts of handling and think it is awesome to lay next to you while enjoying gentle pats, scratches, cuddles and snuggles. I am super smart and already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘wait', ‘shake' and ‘here'; I'll bet you could teach me so many more. I would love to have a job or two to keep me busy and mentally engaged. Taking long hikes, getting involved in nose-work, canine sports or trying my paw at mentally challenging games and toys would help me be a tired dog and a good dog. I hope we can spend lots of time together because I really adore people; in fact, pleasing people is kind of my thing. If you are looking for a dynamic boy with a heart of gold and a whimsical spirit, I believe your search is over. Stop by to meet me in person and let's get the party started.
