Sal is a 10 year old mini doxie living in San Francisco, CA. He was surrendered at a rural, high kill shelter in Merced, CA. Without the intervention of a rescue group that transported him to the Santa Cruz SPCA, he like so many dogs would have had little chance of making it out of the shelter. Through his Instagram account @thevelvetgentleman, he lives life as "the world's most interesting dachshund" in an effort to spread the message of "adopt don't shop" on behalf of the many wonderful dogs, especially senior dogs, waiting for homes in shelters and rescues.
