We got Shmutz from a shelter in Northern Italy. At 6 lbs, he was one of the smallest among the over 100 (!) dachshunds rescued from a hoarding/backyard breeder situation. At the shelter, they suggested we choose him because he was being so annoying that the other dogs were picking on him. Years after he's still punching above his weight - to much dismay of his big basset hound sister - but looking so cute in pictures :-)
