Pet's Story
We rescued Chance when he was 8 weeks old. He was 1 of 14 pups born to a standard poodle, whose owner did not know how to care for them. The pups started to die, one by one, and she began to take the surviving pups to area shelters. Chance (then Grady) was taken from his mother at 5 weeks old, along with 3 brothers, to a very dirty and poorly run shelter in Illinois. We found him on-line, which was a miracle to find a pure-bred, male, apricot, standard poodle. We were looking for a male, apricot, poodle ... it was kismet! Chance was very sick when we got him - for the 1st 6 months we had to quarantine him. He got better bit by bit and is now a very healthy and happy almost 8(?) year old fabulous companion. He is VERY smart. Each day, he comes and sits on my toes, gazes into my eyes, and uses his "indoor voice" to tell me it is time for his afternoon ride in the truck - so off we go to the square - he is in heaven - as are we. Us giving him a Chance and him giving us a Chance has brought incredible Joy to each of us! What a wonderful gift!

Why my pet should win
Well, the thing is, we are DOG LOVERS!!! We think that all dogs are the cutest. But ... we are a little partial to our Chance. He doesn't shed, he doesn't chew anything that he is not supposed to, his fur is soft as a baby’s blanket, he wipes his face on his special towel after every meal ... he does not like to get dirty ... really! He loves to cuddle on the sofa - especially with his Daddy-man. Chance is just the cutest dog we have ever seen and we just can't help but to think he is the one that should win!
