Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States
We do this by:
1. Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
2. Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
3. Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
4. Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
5. Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

Rocky and Roanie were both adopted from DARE 10 years ago and they have been the greatest dachshunds I have ever had the pleasure to call my own. Rocky, the long haired boy, is still an active mischievious senior who lives to be by my side. Roanie, the smooth haired fellow, passed over The Rainbow Bridge last summer. He was the sweetest little guy, a Velcro lap angel that loved everyone he met. He had a talent for looking up at you with soulful, sad eyes and he is definitely striking his signature pose here for the camera. This picture is our last Christmas all together when they had just had a bath and grooming spa day, and were still wearing their funny little Christmas bow ties. DARE rescued these two precious pups and gave me years of joy and memories that I will always treasure.
