Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States

We do this by:

1. Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.

2. Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.

3. Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.

4. Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.

5. Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

Your Pet's Story or Bio
Meet Bentley, the Dachsund! He may be small, but his bark and personality isn't! Bentley is a Momma's boy, meaning he is very spoiled, although he is equally as stubborn. Bentley is full of quirks to make you laugh, snuggles to keep you warm, kisses to last a lifetime, and most of all, he is my sweet boy. 10 years ago, Bentley was given to me for a birthday present, and to this day, I couldn't have picked anything better! He stole my heart immediately. I never would have imagined how something so small could impact my life so much. I'm convinced Bentley was a cat in his past life, after surviving a near death attack by 2 Bull Mastiffs and having an inflamed vertebrae, that is the only thing that comes to mind to make sense why I am lucky to still have him here. Not once through any of that did he give up, he fought his way through even when the vet didn't think he would make it. He is my little warriorđź’“
