Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.
We do this by:- Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
- Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
- Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
- Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
- Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

Vienna was formely known as Angelica but that is her middle name now. Vienna is a red smooth dapple. She was rescued from Dachsund Paws and Pals. The rescue group had got a call about a dachshund that was hit by a car. She had a broken leg, broken pelvis in two places and a dislocated hip. She had F.O.H. Surgery done and her hip and leg has healed wonderfully. She was then available for adoption and was at the Orange County fair grounds Pet Expo where my girlfriend Selena (now wife) at the time was volunteering. I got the call that she had met the sweetest dachshund and i was immediately on board when i heard her story. We applied and passed the home inspection. Vienna has been a great edition to our family. She has an older sister Frankie who is an 11 year old red and tan mini dachshund. Vienna recently competed in the dachshund races in Huntington Beach. She did well considering she had sufferred such a tramatic injury and she was twice her competitions age. She can be found on her big sister’s instagram. @the_adventures_of_frankie.
