Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.
We do this by:- Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
- Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
- Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
- Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
- Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

I, Sully was an only "child" for several years....mom and dad played with me as much as they could between work and keeping the house up. I found things to entertain myself, but got lonely. One day mom came home with a new friend, Blue. Blue was different from me......mom used the word abused......I didn't know this word, but soon learned that he knew nothing about playing and running free in the yard. He was scared of my dad...and his boots. I worked hard everyday to teach Blue what it was like to not have to worry about being kicked or hit. Mom and dad would never hurt us! It has been several years now and we have built a brotherhood, we do everything together! Mom and dad take us on family vacations, rides to town, we even go for ice cream! Blues still has trouble with trusting that he won't get hurt by people, I lick his ears every night trying to remind him that he is safe with mom and dad. We sleep together with our people, we run the house and rule the world. Just like all dachshunds should.
