Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.
We do this by:- Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
- Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
- Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
- Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
- Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

A little about me...
Our 6 year old dachshund, Henry, injured his back. We were at the vet and the vet tech entered with a very pregnant female dachshund.
She was the prettiest cream I have ever seen. She had 5 pups due in two weeks.
In exactly two weeks our 6 year old baby became completely paralyzed due to his back injury. We made the difficult decision to send Henry to heaven. We were devastated. Henry passed in June 4, 2018. After a week my husband and I decided we had to find another pup for as a companion for our remaining dachshund, Greta. Greta was morning the loss of Henry as much as we were.
I made a call to our vet and asked to speak with the vet tech concerning the pregnant cream. After speaking to Sarah, we learned her mama dachshund gave birth to 5 beautiful pups the day before our Henry passed, June 3, 2018.
She gave us pick of the litter, a beautiful cream boy with green eyes!
Sir Fredrich Henry...Fred...came to live with us when he was 8 weeks old.
Greta welcomed Fred with loving kisses! Although they are 6 years apart, they are inseparable!
We are so thankful for our baby boy!
