Pet's Story
My name is Forrest Gump and I am a DARE (Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education) alumni which means I have already found my permanent home.
I was a just a few weeks old when I was found by someone limping around in a field with a broken leg...which is how I got my name. See when my foster family picked me up at the shelter (who by the way later adopted me) they thought it would be funny to yell RUN FORREST RUN when the cast came off....well RUN I did...and I haven't stopped yet!!
I love to swim in our pool which is a favorite past time of mine...I love to climb fences and break out of dog crates, baby gates, muzzles, cones of shame, climb on dining room tables, beds, chairs, fencing, etc...you name it....I will try to climb it! I am an excellent food thief too. I have a cast iron stomach according to the vet and have cost mommy more than any one dog should according to mom...At one point I was at the vet every day for 2 weeks because I kept getting my stitches and staples out. Most days they didnt last more than a few hours. I never saw mom cry so much...my fans were following my movements on FB and they offered lots of creative suggestions, but I managed to break free of all of them...The best one that worked was being tied to momma, with a muzzle, a inflatable doughnut ring, an E collar and dog pj's..ALL at the same time...Houdini and Hannibal Lector were nicknames tossed around during that time..and I am pretty sure there was some off books betting going on about how long each repair would last... ;-) I know I shouldn't do such things but that doesn't stop me...In true dachshund tradition, I basically do what I want regardless of the consequences & mom just tries to keep up and control the damage.
What can I say? I just like to be MEEEEEE. Just being me has gotten me loyal fans from all over the world, who are always good for an alibi or safe house should I need one. I of course, am the most famous of the Duval dogs but there are several other 4 legged family members in our house too....Mackey, Freckles, Peanut, Morgan, Chloe and Reeses are my brothers and sisters, also known as members to the notorious Gump Gang.
In 2010 we thought it best to retain a full time attorney, her name is Emma...she helps me get out of the trouble that somehow always seems to find me. Like most celebrities I am pretty active so you can keep up with me on Facebook (facebook.com/ForrestGumpDuval) for all the lates dirt and to see what fosters we have. Yep even with the 7 of us mom generally makes room for a foster or two, she is pretty cool like that!
