Pet's Story
We rescued Duchess because her previous owner has MS and was not able to care for her any longer. We originally went there for her but then we saw her daddy and had to get him too because his age and they were going to put him down. Sadly we had to put him to sleep last year due to liver cancer, but he was the sweetest. Duchess at first was very skittish and she would pull her head away when we went to pet her so we knew she was abused by them. She had to personality at all, but loved her toys. When we had to put her daddy down her personality went sky rocketing. She became more affectionate and weirdly just like he was to us. At first it made me cry because she was like him and then I just embraced it. She has truly been a blessing to us. My husband had tonsil cancer 2 years ago and she would lay right next to him on the couch to comfort him. And she knew when he wasn't feeling good too so she would give him loves (he is cancer free by the way).
The previous owners never gotten her fixed so we did that and got her teeth cleaned and some pulled (they never had their teeth checked) and poor thing had about 12 teeth pulled, but she is so happy. I couldn't imagine my life without them both in our lives. Maliky (her daddy) is cremated and put by our fireplace so we could see him everyday.
She loves her toys (loves to hog them up) being thrown so she could go get them and she loves sunbathing. She is so spunky too. She is our love and life. Watching TV on the couch with us she waits for daddy to have his snack so she could have some of course and she always knows the time for it to happen. Thank you for letting me share my story.
